I hold a MSc degree in landscape ecology and a PhD in geoinformatics from the University of Münster, Germany. Between 2002 and 2008, I worked as a doctoral researcher in the Münster Semantic Interoperability Lab (MUSIL) and as a post-doctoral researcher at JRC on the semantic modelling of geospatial data and processes to support the discovery, composition and access of geographic information and geoprocessing services in SDIs. Since 2008, I have been supporting the INSPIRE data specification activity at JRC.
As the technical contact point for data modelling, I am supporting the work of the 19 Thematic Working Groups on the INSPIRE data specifications. As part of this work, I am:
- giving support on conceptual modelling issues (e.g. code lists)
- maintaining the shared INSPIRE UML repository and other tools and systems supporting the INSPIRE data specification activity
- supporting the harmonisation of UML data models from different thematic domains
- liaising with the other technical INSPIRE activities (metadata, network services) on cross-cutting architectural issues, such as registers and registries.
